The death of Texas True Ten 5 !

#1 Post by supernova » Sun Feb 13, 2011 8:56 am

The Tx true ten 5 org has now combined the street and extreme classes to make one class. That means no more true ten 5 racing in north Texas because the Org has now made the one class a 275 drag radial class.

My thoughts are it's only time befor the org go's under. They have lost car count down to the point that only 9-12 cars for both classes were showing up and now just one class.

That's to bad. I'm working on my car to run 29.5-10.5's and now it's no more. They're not even going to allow 28-10.5's.

What's a racer to do but find somewhere else to race......

That's what I hate about specific race classes (I have no idea how to get around it). You build a car for it... then someone else gets another bright idea......

That's why I'm gonna run brackets, and one D.O.T. tire class that has no tire size restriction. But its also heads  up.

There's a outlaw drag radial class that is a 5.30 cap class and it will allow 28"-10.5" slicks on I think I'll try that.... The new combo should get my car in the mix. I just not sure how ladder bars and a 28"-10.5" tires will get along but I guiss we'll find out.

You're not interested in messing with the 275's anymore? Interesting that they aren't going to allow 28x10.5 = 275, that deal has been going on for a while at some of the Georgia races.

The org is being run by the same people that control the rules and win the most. It's easy to see why they are keeping in tune the same old same old mentality just rapping it in new paper to say.
IMO, it's a mistake. They are saying the 275 only is for parity in the class. Keep things even. I see no rational thinking in not allowing the 28"-10.5" tire. A lot of 275 classes around the country are allowing it so what's the big deal.

Also in my opinion, my car with the ladder bar set up will benefit for the slicks over the 275's. I do have a set of 275's that we will test with next month when the car is back together. Who knows the car might even work in my favor with the 275's.

So the race promoters are running in their own race? That's never a good idea.

IMHO before you give up on the class it might be worth trying the tire again. People are going very fast on that tire if you can make it work.

that is why i like open bracket classes no crap to deal with. you can't even build a car for a class because as soon as your done they changes the rules and you don't fit in it anymore thats what happened to me when i started with psca so i just went to the open class noproblems there :thumb:
i just wanna race :smt003

My new combo was being set up for the bigger tire class. Bigger motor, more nitrous, bigger tires, ladder bars, wheelie bars. Ect ect ect!
The bigger motor and more nitrous is a plus for any class.

I guess it is what it is. We'll be test next month. I'll keep the 275's on it to test with and see how it go's.

I glad that there is other places to race.

That's isn't always the case... The MAKO series has been very consistent with it's rules from year to year. I think this is it's 8th Year, and still going strong.
