WOW, sure hate to see that. The good part is your OK. My question is what was the guy doing with the shop vac beside the track? Years ago at Heartland Park they had a problem with water seeping up through the track after a big rain. I may be wrong, but it looked loose kinda early.

That was a pretty hard lick you took.
I'm with apache, looked loose early and that man had been on the track mopping something. Just glad nobody was hurt!

It was hasing the tires the hole pass.
At the 150 foot mark it goes from concrete to asphalt and water comes up.
I was on last years tires and that dont work to good on a TT5 Shootout car.

I also like the white time slips instead of the yellow ones even in quailifing.

I hate to see anyone wreck but the main thing is, sheetmetal can be repaired, but sometimes a human can't.

It was good seeing you walk away from the wreck.

dam dude sorry to see that. i had my first crash last year but not as bad as your's did you notice your first question to your self is if the car is ok and fixable thats what went through my head right away.

Glad your ok, that's the important thing. Car's can be fixed, pride can heal, pocket books can recover. Your still with us to race another day and that's a good thing.

The guy manning the shop vac is there to watch for and clean up any water that seeps up from the track at that point. Even when the spot is dry, when a fast car goes over the spot it will pull water up. The cars create a vacuum when they go over the spot, kinda weird, but good to see the track keeps a close eye on it.

Geezo - this is one track I'd put on the 'Do not visit list'...

Isn't there something they can do to address the water problem ? That has to have caused a lot of grief over the years...

That track is owned by fellow DragStuff Member Marty Chance, and you can bet he does everything he can to make sure racers have a safe surface to run on. They have installed drainage and made a number of other modifications to reduce the problem, but when there have been heavy rains it's something they still fight. It's certainly not the only track that has that issue, but the only one I've seen that posts a man there to monitor the situation.
