Breaking The Rules!
Ok...I screwed up:
Not proud of it, lapse in judgement, not thinking ahead, ignoring the rulebooks...whatever...I shaved my door handles.
I've read the official rules for NHRA, and found corroborating statements from IHRA that say (paraphrasing) all vehicles must have a mechanical method for opening the doors from the outside.
So...any ideas of what I can do to make this legal (other than hunting down a new pair of doors)? I've thought about simply running a cable from the latch to the outside of the window, and taping a pull ring to it. But...that's as far as I've gotten. I'm hoping someone else has done this before, and has an easy fix.
Thanks in advance!

I looked for some pics of Apaches truck, none quite detailed enough to see what you're talking about (blame motion blur). How 'bout it?Hitchcock wrote:Apache racer flush mounted a push button on his. Maybe he will post some pics.John_Heard wrote:Are you going to put lexan door windows in it?
I've thought about Lexan (mainly because I have a habit of breaking my windshield on install), but never really considered it for the doors...I'm assuming you're referencing the easier fix by not having the glass in the door?

Re: Breaking The Rules!
Often people with fiberglass doors and lexan windows will cut an access hole for the door release, so that's another option if you're going lexan in them. I don't know if that fits for what you're doing with the car however.

Re: Breaking The Rules!
Here's my door handles - what I was talking about, where you would cut a hole in the window to access the handle.
