Picking up the Nova Sunday

#1 Post by John_Heard » Thu Aug 11, 2011 8:57 am

Looks like we're going to Riffel Motorsports Sunday to pick the Nova up if all goes according to plan! Can't wait to get it home and get back to work on it again. Chris has some touch up work to do to the cage paint as we made some changes there, but after that I'm gonna get busy with wiring and plumbing. Really good to see things starting to go back together!

Awesome! That didn't take too long to make the chassis upgrades.

One of these days I'll get that rematch you owe me. Somehow I think the result will be the same though.

Luckily there wasn't a whole lot needing done, I imagine welding up the water tank took the longest.

I'm looking forward to bringing it to another Nova GXX - maybe next year? Another race would be fun... I think I still have my trophy!

You better still have it! LOL Those Gathering piston trophies aren't cheap or quick to make.

That reminds me, I need to get 4 pistons soaking for this year's trophies.

If I had known it was there, I would have been taking some spy photos.

Got her back home Saturday night a little early. Water tank is done (except for insulation), weight tabs, chute mount, pushbar mount, tie down loops, etc, etc. all finished up.

While I'm waiting to get it into the body shop I'm going to work on plumbing and wiring, etc. Nice to be putting things back on the car instead of taking them off, that's a good sign!

Looks John good. Bet the empty nest sydrome is gone and glad to see your baby back in the shop.

Stupid question and I really don't know the answer to this, but once you get your chassis done, is the
engine/ tranny all ready to go?

I really don't even know what size motor your running?

I have a feeling your going to beat SuperNova out to the track :smt005

Tranny is all ready to bolt in, but I still have to freshen the engine. The plan is to work on that while the car is at the body shop when I can't work on anything else. It's a 615ci Conventional Head BBC, nothing fancy...

That booger is almost 1.5 times the displacement of my little 427 bbc. I'm started to feel CI envy...
