Third Time's The Charm?

#1 Post by Craig W. » Thu Aug 11, 2011 8:32 pm

Two weeks ago it rained just as I got to the track. Last weekend I find an end burned off a pushrod. Cleaned up the debris last weekend, got the pushrod yesterday and the Jesel adjuster today (plus two spares of each) and fired up the new engine again today. Sounds much better. Real healthy sounding now.

Of course they are calling for rain Saturday so who knows when I'll get to make a pass. No idea what it'll run either. Its an entirely new engine combo and quite a few chassis changes too.

No, I went with Manton. Trend having troubles?

It was my mistake. I missed a hard rub that cause significant side loading on this one pushrod. Not sure how I missed it but I did.

I love how you can get custom pushrods shipped same day from Manton. I'm sure others do as well but its just really refreshing to be able to get a custom part next day if you had to.

Just sounded familiar.

Buddy of mine had Trends and kept burning them up left and right with Jesel's. Found out the Jesel adjusters are very hard and the heat tread on the Trends wasn't enough and would burn up. Switched to Manton Stage 5's and never burnt another.

Apparently the T&D's adjusters aren't as hard and don't have this problem with Trends heat treat.

Terry at Manton is great to deal with. Have had a couple sets from him over the years and he will only sell you what you need, won't upsell if it's not needed.

Yeah, I was impressed that there was no sales push for the more expensive stuff. Just a good recommendation for what would do the job.

Third time was not the charm. Rained out again! Made one motor pass and then it popped up a little shower. About the time they got that dried up, it really let loose and poured as hard as I've seen in a long time. Luckily the tower warned us a strong cell was coming and we got loaded up before it hit. Just got a little wet closing the trailer doors.

At least all went well on the motor pass and I can start tuning on the bottle.

Yeah, they've got a nice program going. I'd like to run up there again but I made my commitment for this year to London. Next year I think Hardinsburg is moving their race to the 1st Saturday, so that'll let me get up there too.

Hey Craig,

Good luck to whenever you make your run :thumb:

I don't know about you guys in your area of the country but I was very happy to see the past few days of rain.
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

With the draught in Texas, could you please take you racecar there to help with some rain?!

I think I could cure the drought if I went to Texas. I could just hit every track in the state and all would be fixed.
