Anybody going to No Mercy at SGMP this weekend?

#1 Post by ytnova » Thu Oct 13, 2011 6:35 am

Car is all ready, loading up tonight and leaving real early in the am. Gonna try the outlaw leafspring class. Anybody else going?
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

I took my turbo car last year. Not enough money this year.
Good luck.

Thanks guys, put a second stage on last nite, we will see what happens. I gotta feeling I'm bringing a knife to a gun fight, but who knows.

I'm way too far off the setup to think about taking my stuff down there yet.

How fast have you been on leaf springs?

Your not that far off, I went a 5.47@133 late saturday nite which qualified me 13th or 14th. #1 was a 5.12 and #2 was a 5.19 and the bump was a 5.52. I am sure it will pick up for the next race.

Good job on making the field. Tough racing down there.

Might have to try the leaf spring class in Feb if they don't have the 8.5" tire class again. We'll have to see if I can make some good progress with the new setup before this season ends.

I watched quite a bit of the racing online. Looks like a huge turnout and good racing. My connection got slow so I didn't get to see who won any of the classes.

I had some issues, but overall, it went pretty good. I should have some vids of the car posted up later in the week, but my runs kinda went like this:

1rst run, spun
2nd run, HOLY SH*T!! all i see is sky  , on the bumper! BOOM! ground, bent the rack, ran 5.57@127 1.35 60 foot on the rear tires
3rd run, broke the trans brake button, had to foot brake, 5.59@???
4th run, 5.47@133 nice and soft didn't even lift the tire

1rst round, exact same setup/tuneup as run#4, but the other lane and the track wouldn't take the power, spun

Craig, donald said he was going to do another leaf spring class in Feb

Sounds like there's a lot left in it.

I'm pondering making the trip down there. Maybe we can have team Dragstuff on-site and give each other a hand.

I was supposed to pit crew with some people there, but had to work. Congrats ytnova. If you qualified, you were doing something right. I saw several 4.90's in the class you were in, if my memory is correct. (Was watching the ustreaqm live feed off and on over the weekend)...

I kept getting confused about which class I was watching! Radial vs. the World, X275, Outlaw 275, Outlaw Radial...I needed a cheat sheet of the rules to know the differences! LOL

Number 1 was Ron Rhoads 5.12, and I think Flippen was number 2 with a 5.19, everybody else was .20's through .50's. I don't think anybody went sub 5 during the race, but I would have to look. Flippen did end up winning though, that truck rolls! I know we have talked about it before, but it would be nice to get a bunch of us together for a race. I have every intention of doing this race again in feb, definately a good time, so if you come out, we will be there. The car does have some left in it, I think it can go .30's on 1 kit from what I learned this weekend. I brought a second stage just for this race, but between spinning or wheelstanding, I think the single plate I had was enough headache for the weekend.

I'd like to get my car out early next year. A race down south would be a great tune-up for the start of the season here. Expensive trip though. Valdosta is a good 10 hour drive from here.

Hopefully we can make it in february. Lots of guys that was wanting to go couldn't because of breakage. Our vacuum pump died and we were just spent out for the year. Our main problem is its hard to find good tracks to test on. congrats on making the show ytnova
