Off-season changes?

#1 Post by supernova » Tue Nov 22, 2011 9:16 am

So what is everybody planning on changing in the off-season?

I'm making a cam change, add a belt drive, change over to shaft mount rockers, remote oil filter Kit , and do some wiring up grades.
The cam I have is hurting a 60' foot so it's being changed to help that. I'v also had rocker studs come loose so I'm putting shaft mounts on it to prevent that. The remote oil filter kit is because I can't change the oil filter without taking exhaust apart due to the type oil pan I'm using.

Changes for the batter!!!!! :thumb:

I'm freshening up 2 of my buddies engines, got to get a new rotating assembly for a Brobix -12 headed engine and get it back together,... buy parts for and put together a new Dart little chief 412 for a circle track friend. Looking forward to that build,...no money spent on it yet, so we will see how it pans out.

I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

I'm thinking about repainting my car Lemans blue.

Putting the new converter in and taking it to a chassis dnyo just to make sure my drivetrain is in good shape.
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

My changes started last year and has snowballed.

Started out with going from a 8.8 rear end to a Dana 60 and getting it mini tubbed with sliders.

Next i bought a lenco 5 speed and sold the Jerico 4 speed. Also am putting in a clutch can which takes up alot of room. Had to make a new trans tunnel and make sliders for the trans.

Next was putting in a rack and pinion with coil overs, and redoing the front half of the cage

And then it was time for another small block.

Still injected on alcohol it made 810 hp @ 8100 rpm... it should run better than the old motor which i'm guessing was making 650hp or so?

New motor has spread port heads.. that means no off the shelf headers, and the sliders for the trans got in the way of chassis headers so am making fender well headers with mufflers.

And it all started because i got tired of getting 1-6 runs on the 8.8 R&P

Don't know yet, I only pulled one head, saw that cylinder, snapped a few picks, and set the head back on it, but atleast two, that one being the worst. I will post up some more in a week or so once it is out, but the head will need some work also, beat up the quench pad pretty bad.

I'm guessing she was letting some oil by?

Off seasons changes for me? Hoping to finish off season changes from winter of 2009 ugh... If it ever gets out of Paint Shop Jail, should be up and running again as a new car for 2012.
