The racing world has lost another legend, Grumpy Jenkins died this morning.

Knowing that his shop was a few hours from me, I always wanted to go down and visit his shop, but never did.

Later I found out that the guy that did my inspection work Tom johns, his brother Steve Johns worked for Grumpy and later went on to being a Pro Stock driver.

He's going to be missed, thats for sure.

God's speed Grumpy and knowing you, you'll be there in less then 6.0 seconds!

There will never be another Harold "Grumpy" Jenkins.
I just finsihed reading a book about him, Grumpy's Toys, and would recommend it to anyone. He had much more influence on the sport than most of us realize.
Sad news, indeed.............

Yep, Grumpy was my hero for a whole lotta years and the guy who got me started on the whole V8 Vega thing.

I had a 72 Vega GT before I moved on to my Camaro - watching Grumpy make history with the Vega's he ran was pretty inspirational and got me into the whole extreme hp-to-weight thing :)

If you take notice, his Vega was built at S&W Racecars and I was talking to my buddy from there yesterday and he said he knew the Grump for a long time.

He said he was quit a man and HPDrifter, you are right, there will never be another one like him.

Yeah - he was one of those individuals who turned into a fixture at the track - everybody has heard of Bill Jenkins and Grumpys Toy is a name most drag racers recognize. RIP Grump
