Not car related but the best news we had in a long time....

#1 Post by Bruce69Camaro » Wed Mar 27, 2013 5:56 am

We took our son up to Hershey Medical Center to have his yearly checkup on his brain tumor and after 13 long years, the doctor cleared and discharged our son of any tumor issues.

After his first surgery, they removed 99.9% of the tumor, which was located on his brain stem and was approximately the size of a golf ball. There was a small portion that our doctor decided to let in there, because everytime he touch it, our son's heart would stop. So after a year, this small area started to get larger in size and they decided to use a procedure called the gama knife and we were hoping this would kill the remaining portion of the tumor.

So on Monday, the doctor told us, if after 13 years, that small area hasn't changed in size or shape, the gama knife did it's job and he is 100% clean.

He has officially been given the green light and was told no more doctors or mri's.....

16, getting ready to turn 17 in a few weeks and before someone says, "Get the old man out of that Camaro and put the young blood in there", we were advised that due to some of his brain damage, that it is in our best interest to hold off until he's a bit older.

Even though he is going to be 17, his brain acts on an age level of 14/15, but he did driv my wife's car in the driveway and does a god job. He also has helped me work on the Camaro and trust me, I know he would not be afraid to run the piss out of it or any of your cars.

That is one of our major concerns that we are afraid of, he does not recognize what fear is.

We knew this for years, but no one would listen to us, until a professional did an evaluation on him and found this out.

But he is on meds that help control issues and is one smart kid, so I don't show him too much about the car or one day, I'll hear it fired up and watch him tear down the street, which would be cool as long as he brings it back with gas in the cell and no cops following him :smt005

Thanks guys.

I've taken my anger and have turned it into something good and have been in contact with two members on YB, that are going through similar issues with their children. One guy, his son has cancer and he is going through treatment now and another guy, has a friend with a four year old that has a brain tumor.

Finally these terrible past memories are turned into something good and the thanks I get from these families out-weighs everything.

But just the thought of my boy driving my car scares the crap out of me.....

I'd rather have supernova or Mike Peters drive it... :smt005 :smt005 :smt005

Nah, it's a Camaro, they couldn't handle it!
