Garage heaters
So both my portable propane garage heaters took a dump today... long story. But I digress, I'm sick of having to refill bottles and light them every time I want to be in the garage. I want to bite the bullet and put in one of those hanging heaters that use natural gas and thermostat. Who makes the best heater and where is the best place to by them?

Around here ILLINOIS they won't sell a gas heater to off the street customers. (Might just be a vendor/contractor agreement, I don't know). I ended up buying mine from a heating supply place in IOWA. (Where we use to live). We have 2. A 5 year old Reznor & a 15 year old Sterling. They are both still working & do a great job.
Thanks for the input guys. The garage is insulated well. I've been heating it just fine with a 30,000 btu portable propane heater. From what I can tell, I can't buy a unit heater here either but I will either order one mailorder or have a buddy that works in HVAC get it for me. Anyone know anything about the Hamilton Home products unit heaters?

I went to a auction last week and bought a waste oil heater for my shop for $100.00 it will burn just about anything, but you have to becareful of what you put through it like gasoline or paints or thinners. The only downfall was I didnt get the pump that pumps the waste oil from the oil tank to the heater and I just got off the phone with LANAIR and the pump with the filters and regulators is $733.00 but considering this heater new is about $5,500 I think thats not so bad. It says it will heat up to 5,000 sq ft but my shop is only about 1200 so it should be more than enough lanair.com is their website there are multiple companies who sell these and we had one at the shop I used to work at and it did really well.

Re: Garage heaters
Just my opinion but i would look in to the radiant heaters they heat up faster and you don't lose your heat as fast when you open the overhead doors.
