Need help with lexan install

#1 Post by blowncuda » Sat May 10, 2008 10:39 am

On other race cars, I have seen a black border around the lexan where they have attached the lexan to some sort of frame work. Can some one tell me if that is just paint or tape and does it serve a purpose other than hiding the way the lexan is attached.

if your using fiberglass doors with lexan you will want to use framework.

Thanks for the replys, I will see if I can google clear one and get some paint. I thought it might be there to help keep the lexan from cracking out.

I just use black tremclad. Cut the paper off on the back side of the Lexan sheet to the width you want, the paper acts as a mask. If you paint on the back side it gives the paint a really great deep look.
