Weighed the car tonight...

#1 Post by John_Heard » Wed Feb 17, 2010 9:02 pm

Wow, that weight loss program really worked - 1425 lbs...

You've got some catching up to do Mr. Willis...

Only problem is I think I'll have to add a few things back in to make it run, like an engine and trans, wiring, trunk lid, fenders hood, seats, cage... haha.. Anyway, lighter than I had guessed it would be. I wanted to see how much the new cage adds to overall weight, so decided to weigh it before we take it to the chassis shop.

It reminds me of a truck around here that used to race sand drags back when I was fooling with that. All it had was a full roll cage and a cab. No front fenders, clip or bed on the truck. Was pretty funny to watch with paddle tires on the back

Hey John,

You going to keep us posted on the progress of the cage or is that going to be "Top Secret".

I haven't talked to Kurt (the guy doing the work) about that, but I'll see if he minds if I take some progress pic's for everyone to see. The car's going to be 2 hours away, so I'm not sure how often we'll be visiting it while he's getting the work done.

Does not ring a bell. I'm asuming because you have kids old enough to drive your a few years and beers ahead of me. And unless your girl is several years younger than you (which is awesome too) she is older than I. And was in a different social group than I was when I lived there. I'm still planning on swinging and checking out your car. Have you ever had work done there before?

Kurt helped me narrow my rear end when we redid it a couple years ago, he's a great welder and fabricator. I've seen a number of cages he's done as well and have been quite pleased with the quality he puts out. I think he'll do a great job on the car.
