an opps on my part! Carb issue
I slipped off the inlet AN fitting on the bowl of the carb last night because I was hurrying and broke off the plastic site glass on the side of the bowl for viewing float levels. I broke off flush with the side of the bowl....
Any tips/tricks/idea's on how to get that out of there?
Thanks guys...
scott
PS> I think it's time to just put it away for the year, because it's not going my way at all in any way shape or form.

I have done it before to.
pull the bowl off and you can turn it from the inside with your fingers.
I was going to drill a small hole and use a easy out and when i hit it with the drill bit it turned right out.
you just dont want any plastic in the carb thats why you need to pull the bowl off.

Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
I have quit using those plastic float bowl site plugs. Mine kept swelling and going soft. I'm saving up to buy 4 x hard glass sights for the float bowls...

Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
I still have them on my holley 750hp but i got the new aluminum bowls with the big glass site bowl windows on my dominator.
I was driving my nova one day and smelled gas so i pulled over and looked and the head fell off one of the clear plugs.

Yep. I'm not sure why they'd use a material that seems so sensitive to fuel, tho I think ultraviolet light affects the plastic too.Speedster wrote:I still have them on my holley 750hp but i got the new aluminum bowls with the big glass site bowl windows on my dominator.

Ditch those things and get the old style - they aren't nothing but junk. You'll wish you didn't have them when they burn down your car.

this is why I mentioned I was 'saving up' for them. $25 per sight plug = $100 for my dual quad setup:Bad67 wrote:Who sells the glass windows, and how do they install in the bowl?

And like John says above, ditch the plastic - I shudder to think about one of these cheap plastic plugs crumbling and spraying the engine bay at speed....
I have Dominator bowls on my 4150 HP carbs but I ended up going back to the solid plugs for now.

So these will not work with stock holley fuel bowls?
Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
Oh yeah, they'll work. The big diff between 4150 and 4500 (Dominator) float bowls is the ability to feed from either side of the bowl.Bad67 wrote:wikd69 wrote:this is why I mentioned I was 'saving up' for them. $25 per sight plug = $100 for my dual quad setup:Bad67 wrote:Who sells the glass windows, and how do they install in the bowl?

Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
It says on the summit website there not for standard holley fuel bowls, there for holley aftermarket fuel bowls???
Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
You know, I don't know. I've seen them on both 4150 and 4500 bowls, not sure what they mean by 'aftermarket float bowls'.Bad67 wrote:It says on the summit website there not for standard holley fuel bowls, there for holley aftermarket fuel bowls???

Re: an opps on my part! Carb issue
I bought my fuel bowls off ebay from a guy in California and put all my stuff jets floats in these new aluminum bowls with site windows on both side and a mark to show where fuel level should be and they were not to awful much money and we have used them all season and have had no issues at all. I will try and find the link to them.
This guy has done me really good and he ships quick too!
