When I'm not using it on my engine, can I cut sheet metal with it?

Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
Looks like it would melt the spark plug tip.

What's the buy-in to be a dealer? Looks like it would sell itself and I could retire to somewhere warm.

Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
Hi guys,
I have been working on similar products for some years and you can check out my videos. I have not tested this system but I have been struggling some time with problems I am not sure this system has solved. I have problem with spark plug wear, even platinum plugs will wear out pretty fast. Also, in new car engines there is very little to save to be honest. The on-board computer will sometimes get confused and the use of gas increased in some testings. If you can not reprogram the ECU it will be hard to save fuel. On older cars or very much tuned engines with insufficient current it will be improvements. I have not tested this system so I am not sure though.

I would think the 5000mi plug swaps will limit the products appeal somewhat.

Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
You're right, the question is if you can save money on this device. First buy it for $500 then change plugs every 5000 km and then you don't know anything about engine service. I guess the warranty will not pay for damage caused by this device.
Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
There are quite a few vids I found for the keyword: plasma ignition
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gqfY-SKCSoU
If that is really with the same power as a cdi, that is pretty remarkable.
Seems there are quite a few people experimenting with these ignitions
and it is 40 years old.

Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
Actually 70 years old. They used plasma ignition in Aircraft engines during WW2 to save fuel on long bomb runs. Reason why they don't have it in manufactured cars is probably because it's not worth it. The service cost will extend the improved fuel economy.norwalk22 wrote: Seems there are quite a few people experimenting with these ignitions

Re: Plasma Ignition the Ultimate Ignition upgrade?
Do you have any references to the plasma ignitions being 70 years old?
There are many ignitions called "plasma ignitions" - I mean, technically,
a normal spark is a plasma and so is fire - those are all plasmas.
The 40 year old reference I'm talking about is known in the industry
as Plasma Jet Ignition, which is very specific. I highly doubt the 70 year
old ignition you mention is a plasma jet ignition - may have been an
enhanced ignition but I'd like to see the references - and schematics.
In WWII, water injection was heavily used as well.

This guy looks like he's in his 20's but if it is true that he
is creating that big plasma burst for the same power as
a CDI (pretty bold claim), I'm all ears! I've used CDI's for
years and I just don't see how he is getting that from
the same power - doesn't that violate the laws of physics?
