Hey John,

Just found these sold by Jegs: http://www.jegs.com/p/OER-Equipment-Rep ... 9/10002/-1
According to the description they're made of urethane and the price isn't too bad at $235.00.
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........

Going to keep an eye open for some bargains on those. Jeg's is using full retail price on those, same as OER's catalog.

When I ran it through jegs racer discount, it came back for $206.79, ships in 8 days.
I am not really sure what the question is, but I am pretty sure the answer is Big Block.

Learned some more on this over the weekend, friend of mine put a cover in without the old pad underneath. It looked real good, fit was real nice and tight. Ordered me one today from JC Whitney for $90... Just got to setup a way to hold it in. He told me it saved 8 lbs over the stock one in a 68 Firebird.

Hey John,

I've been hiding in the corners waiting to hear an answer on this one because I have been wanting to do the same thing.

Here is something I have been thinking about, using that spray foam you get at Lowes or Home Depot, make a base out of luan that has all the securing posts, and then spray the inside of the cover with the foam. Once it's dry, you shave the foam down with a saw blade or razor blade.

Do you get the idea?

Doesn't look to me that it needs the spray foam part, but yeah something needs to be done to attach it to the dash. Going to look it over good when it shows up and see what I can come up with.

Got my JC Whitney Special in today. Weight is only .615 lbs, stock dash pad was 3.85, net savings approx 3.23lbs minus whatever I have to do for attaching it. Not sure why Craig's weighed 8 lbs, might have been that his old one had been recovered as I can't see a 68 Firebird being that much bigger.

Oh well, 3 lbs ain't much, but it's better than a kick in the shin.

Didn't catch that when I answered on my phone - Craig's was a stock OEM that had been recovered at some point, which is likely why it was heavier than mine.

Any update on that dash cap?

Nice looking big toe, you going to paint your nails the same color blue as your nova :smt005

My daughter said to use "krinkle" nail finish and it will give you the hammertone look.

Haven't worked on it lately, been too busy painting my toenails with wrinkle finish paint.
