What's the most nerve racking
What's the worst thing for your nerves you have done to your race car? Mine may have been watching a guy cut a hole in my steffs aluminum oil pan.

Backhalved it. There was nothing but a giant hole behind the seats. After it was all cut out, you couldn't just bolt it back in.

Yeah, I watched a guy have a go at my car with a sawzall. It was ass...

First time I dropped my car off at a chassis shop and left with an empty trailer. I didn't sleep well for a week I don't think!

Putting it into the wall and watch it try to crawl the guard rail. Was sick about that for along time

Re: What's the most nerve racking
When I took a plasma cutter to the back half of my car and I got to admit, sitting in the staging lanes for the first time in 20 years, last weekend just hoping everything was going to work right and get me down the 1/4 mile ok....
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........
Re: What's the most nerve racking
How could I forget about my two trips into the wall? The first time wasn't nearly as bad as the last. I had the car back out in a month last time it happened but this time is 15+ months and counting. I didn't even want to look at the car for quite some time and it really shook up my wife.John_Heard wrote:Putting it into the wall and watch it try to crawl the guard rail. Re: What's the most nerve racking
For me it was the very first trip down the track running the very first big block chevy I'd ever built, *and* after not having touched a motor at that level for over 20 years... I wasn't sure it wouldn't hand grenade crossing the stripe...
Matter of fact, I *still* worry about that every time I run down the track
