Cam got here today. I was a little off on the specs. 282/304@.050. .874/.840 after the lash. 114.5 lsa. 111 centerline.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
Dang, makes my lil' stick seem like a street grind. Of course, you've obviously got the heads to use those specs. That is quite a gap between intake and exhaust duration. Mine's 286/296 but not nearly the lift. Interesting on the rocker ratios also. I always thought if you could maintain geometry, using big ratios and keeping the lobes smaller would be beneficial. What size of cam core are you using? Thanks for sharing Craig.Craig W. wrote:
Sure Mike, I don't care to share the cam specs. I don't have the lobe numbers with me right now but if my memory is correct the intake is 278@.050, the exhaust is 311@.050 and its a 115 lsa. 1.9 intake and 1.8 exhaust rockers. Lift will be about .890/.850". Mark said the extra exhaust duration would widen my tuning window.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
Its a 55mm cam with roller bearings.
Big gaps between intake and exhaust seem to be the modern thinking for both N/A and nitrous cams.

Hopefully its not as wicked as before. .965" lift was a bit aggressive! But that was not the cam that was supposed to be in this engine anyway.

You know, there is probably a 12-Step program for that sort of addiction.Craig W. wrote:Hopefully its not as wicked as before. .965" lift was a bit aggressive! But that was not the cam that was supposed to be in this engine anyway.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
I got a little more done on the car yesterday. Pretty much waiting on two lifters to be rebuilt so I can button the top end of the motor back up. Hopefully they'll come back to me late this week and I can make some noise on Saturday but won't be able to get to the track. I'm running out of test days and weather. Maybe the 23rd will work.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
Hope you can get one more time on it before the winter sets in. We're supposed to have a race on the 23rd, but hard to say if the weather will cooperate or not.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
It'll probably be a long winter if I don't at least get one pass in and get to put it away for the winter with a healthy engine.
Then again, I keep finding new things to do to it. What did I go do at 9:30 last night? Tore out the MSD box and coil so I could tidy up the wiring and mount them to a new ABS sheet.

Re: Return of the Death Nova
If you really wanted to, how about drilling out the center of your bolts to lighten things up even more......that should keep you pretty busy for a while!
Those who think they know it all have no way of finding out they don't.........
Re: Return of the Death Nova
I'm replacing non-critical fasteners with aluminum bolts. Haven't gotten real deep into that yet but have a few bags of bolts that I'm slowly working with.
I'm going to have to pile the weight in the car for next year if I run this new class that's been added. The car is about 3000 now (haven't weighed it after all the changes) and it'll have to be 3250. Looks like I get to eat well for Thanksgiving
