Todd, care if I pick your brain about the old M/T radials? Not sure if you've been running them since your car is N/A but I figure you've got some info on them.
How aggressive can you be with them? 17 to 18 psi a good starting point with a 10" rim? What kind of burnout do they like? Do they response to suspension changes similarly to the Pro radial or do they like a little different setup?
There's a new class here in the KY area that's similar to Ultra but with significant power limitations. OSCA is hoping it'll be a 5.30-5.50 class. I think the rules have some flaws but I'm going to give it a shot and see if I'm competitive with the little 53 jets (cross plate) and 3250 lbs.
I might go south for some Ultra at Holly Springs and Memphis if I think I've got a handle on the old radials. Hopefully I'll be out testing as soon as weather permits.

Sorry to be late responding, just saw this Craig.
I have not used the old tire since 2005, back when I ran RAM D/R. I've been running the Pro tire since racing Ultra 275.
Being my car makes right at 900 ft/lbs of torque, an 8" converter flashing to 7200 rpm, and 4.57 gears, I doubt the old tire would fare very well at all. I would have to kill a TON of power off the line to have any chance of moving the car 5'.

I think I've seen some 1.15-1.18 60' times on the old radial listed on YB. Sounds like its better than the Hoosier 8.5 if the track is there.

I think I remember John Keesey ran a 1.18 60' with his turbo combination on the old tire. I know alot of the guys are in the 1.20 to 1.24 range usually.

Sounds like they might be similar to the Hoosier 8.5, maybe a tad better.
