i have a 69 z28 bbc and i am currently installing a painless wiring harness. the car had a voltage reg. before but i think i can delete
this if i am only running a one wire shogun alt.? the car is majority
of the time a trailer king. i have one other question about the wire
coming from the alt.. can i run this wire straight to the b+ on the
starter, instead of running it all the way back to the batteries in
the trunk.? will this affect my kill switch.? any help would be appreciated.... i am not an electrician
so go easy....
by the way this site is really cool and helpful. hope i can help
some of you guys sometime. thanks.
kinda new member with a couple of questions

You shouldn't need the old external voltage regulator if you're using a one wire alternator. You could run it to the starter solenoid as long as the only other wire on that post is the battery cable running back to the trunk.

hey i think do not have anything but the large b+ cable to the
top post( i am at work). but if there is anything else are you suggesting thati run this straight to the battery or kill switch...not that i doubt you but what is the reason? wouldnt it be the same no matter which end of the cable i hook to? remember i am not an eletrician.... thanks

Saves the weight of that long heavy cable if you run it to the starter solenoid where the battery cable is vs. having to run it the length of the car.
