? for Supernova
Is there anything you did not like about the relay board you got from Nitrous Dave? What gauge wire did you use to power it and did you go to the cut off switch or a junction block. Thanks
Re: ? for Supernova
Hey SC,
I have a 8 gage wire to power input, 14 gage on the outputs, and 18 gage on the 12 volt trigger inputs. The power wire is tied in to a power junction that is shut off by the mian relay that is activated by a switch on the dash. The power cut off switch at the back of the car shuts off everything.
Hope that helps. Let me know if I can help further.

Re: ? for Supernova
Thanks the pics help. Im getting one soon and just trying to plan out all the wiring first so I dont have to do it twice.
Re: ? for Supernova
have you looked at the arc8000? it comes with a similar relay board. I love mine
Re: ? for Supernova
I already have a switch panel I just need the relay board. The one Nitrous Dave makes will be perfect for what I need and its very inexpensive.71 chevy wrote:have you looked at the arc8000? it comes with a similar relay board. I love mine
Re: ? for Supernova
It looks solid. The only thing I don't like is that the pc terminals use a screw to hold the input wires down. I hate to imagine what could happen if one came loose.
Nd said it can't happen but I still like a more positive engagement. I had a relay board like that for my efi that had those pc screw terminals controlling my fuel pump and injectors and thinking about what a loose screw could cause gave me fits. I ended up changing it.
Having said that, in the short time I had it, no wires ever came loose so I might have just been overworrying

Re: ? for Supernova
We haven't had any screw's come loose. One unit is in my race car that makes over a 1000 hp and the other unit is in a daily driver.
Although I like the ARC unit, I didn't know about it until after I had installed Dave's board which I will work just fine. It was also easy to wire.

Re: ? for Supernova
Did he ever add the ability to run single pole, double throw relays so there is a normally closed circuit? We nitrous guys with a transbrake need that so we're not spraying with our foot on the floor and the transbrake engaged.
I'd love to clean up my wiring and relays with something like that.
I'm also starting to move toward weather pack connectors on items that I have to remove fairly often.

Re: ? for Supernova
Hi Craig,
Hey, I have my nitrous wired in to a K&R delay box. The nitrous doesn't activate until the delay box releases the trans brake. I like it that way so I can add time to the activation if needed. The delay box also controls the board reley for the line lock.
You would have to ask Dave on the single pole, double throw relays. I know he has a nitrous relay setup that is separate for the big board.
Look on this page and scroll down.

Re: ? for Supernova
I can delay my nitrous activation with my Cometic progressive controller. But its triggered through the release of the transbrake and the double throw relay. I guess I could always modify his board or make my own if need be.
I asked Dave about it when he originally posted his stuff on here. I'll check it out and see if he's made that change.
I like the cleanliness of your setup. I need to get my stuff in better shape. I just hate lying under the dash on my head! LOL

Re: ? for Supernova
Im not concerned with the wires coming loose the harnesses I use for our street rods have those screws in the main fuse box and I havent had come loose yet, street driving is a better test for that than the track besides dont we all have a few screws loose anyway
Re: ? for Supernova
I have the Cometic progressive controller also but I like to be able to move the time in the staging lines if I see the car's in front hitting the track too hard. I can move the time out to get off the line with the delay box. I don't have to plug in a lap-top.
A few loose screw's, I lost some!

Good point about being able to make a change in the staging lanes. That would be handy if you see the cars in front of you not getting off the line well.
